Monica was born outside of San Francisco, California, but grew up outside of Albany, in upstate New York. Growing up, she had the privilege of coming to New York City many times so when she moved here in September, it wasn’t all so new to her. Her family has a bit of Italian, Irish, German, and French roots which come through mainly when she talks about food. She loves to dance, eat, cook, learn languages, paint, and be outside!
Monica started learning French, formally, in college. She studied it as a minor, and spent a semester abroad in Strasbourg, France ! She fell in love with the country, culture, and language and knew she wanted to go back. Following undergrad, in 2020, she went to live and work in France for about two years. She was a language assistant teaching English in primary schools. She lived in a small town, Noyon, in the North, and then Castres, in the south.
This past year, she worked in Prospect Park with the program Brooklyn Nature Days. Her teaching philosophy and style are pretty simple – she wants to create a supportive, fun, inclusive, safe, and motivating environment for every student.
Monica wants to be every student’s cheerleader so they feel comfortable and confident in themselves, and do so through showing them patience, enthusiasm, and care!
She is so excited for this coming year with your wonderful kids!
