French Enrichment Class for children and adults

Kids' French Programs:

This fall, we are offering two levels of After school French Club: beginner and intermediate. In both groups, children will be immersed in warm, creative environments that encourage them to build confidence in the language, express their feelings, and share their ideas.

Beginner French After School Club - Wednesdays

5-8 yrs – Wednesdays 3:15PM – 4:15PM

Location: LLS – 462 Vanderbilt Avenue, Brooklyn NY 11238

This class is designed for children with little to no exposure to French. Grounded in the science of language acquisition and early childhood development, our methodology draws from repetition with variation, total physical response, emotional connection, and meaningful routines. Children are immersed in a structured environment that builds confidence and comprehension. We focus on high-frequency vocabulary, colors, numbers, greetings, classroom commands and use visual cues, gestures, and props to bring the language to life.

Intermediate French After School Club - Mondays

5-8 yrs – Mondays 3:15PM – 4:15PM

This class is for children currently enrolled in Dual Language Programs or who have a strong foundation in French. It is built on a clear pedagogical framework that integrates language objectives into every activity. Using project-based learning, storytelling, and collaborative games, students practice more complex vocabulary and grammar in context. Our teachers plan each session around targeted language goals—expanding syntax, refining pronunciation, and encouraging fluid self-expression. Children are encouraged to take risks, explore nuance, and grow as speakers. Small group instruction and peer interaction allow us to differentiate and meet each learner where they are, while keeping the environment playful and creative. Ideal for children ready to deepen their skills and move toward greater fluency.

Adult French Programs:

Join us for weekly “heures françaises” and dive into the language in a fun, supportive environment. Whether you’re a parent in our French immersion preschool looking to build more vocabulary to communicate with your child, or simply someone eager to learn a new language, or continue to work on their French these classes are perfect for you. We will be offering a beginner class on Tuesdays and an intermediate class on Wednesdays.

French Adult Beginner Class - Tuesday Evenings

Tuesdays 8pm to 9pm

Join our Beginner French class for adults: perfect for those just starting their French learning journey with no prior background. Build conversational skills in a fun, supportive space.

French Adult Intermediate Class - Wednesday Evenings

Wednesdays 8pm to 9pm

Location: LLS – 462 Vanderbilt Avenue

Join our Intermediate French class for adults: perfect for those with basic conversational skills or prior French experience who have taken French classes before. Build vocabulary, boost confidence, and deepen your speaking skills in a fun, supportive environment.

Arts Programming:

This year, we’re thrilled to offer our community a vibrant new array of programs led in French, and enriched by other creative media like sewing, theater, and more. For over a decade, LLS has proudly participated in the Lycée Français national theater Festival, earning first prizes and unforgettable memories. At LLS, we believe language is experienced through art and culture.

Afternoon Sewing with Liza, en Français

How wonderful would it be to make your own garments instead of buying them? Inspired by her mother, Liza has always loved sewing her own clothes, choosing the fabric, style, and design. In this course, she’ll guide children through the basics of sewing their own clothing, such as pants, skirts, and dresses.

Thursdays from 3:00pm to 4:30pm

Location: 462 Vanderbilt Ave.

Ages: 6-10 years old.

Sewing Level: Beginner and Intermediate

This course will be taught in French.

Morning Theatre with Céline

In Céline’s French theater class, children build self-confidence and community through improvisation, reading, and art. Taught entirely in French, this creative space invites young actors to explore their inner worlds, connect with one another, and grow as a harmonious ensemble.

Two courses are being offered weekly on Saturday Mornings:

Ages: 6- 8 yrs – Saturdays from 9:30 am to 10:30 am

Location: 462 Vanderbilt Avenue

Ages: 9- 11 yrs – Saturdays from 11:00 am to 12pm

La Pré Maternelle, a gentle introduction to preschool

Each week, la Pré Maternelle will meet for an hour and a half. This child and caregiver program offers a unique and creative first school experience for young children. We warmly welcome them into a world filled with songs, movement, art projects, and silly creatures and characters, which will encourage them to exercise their imagination and begin to learn French. This program is a valuable introduction to the daily classroom routines of preschool life and will give them a strong foundation to begin school the following year.

1.5 – 3 years

Wednesday 10:30am – 12:00pm

MAKE-UPS: With the aim to create a positive teaching and learning environment, we provide our teachers with dependable schedules and class lists. Due to this fact we are unable to accomodate make-up classes if your child has to miss a class for illness or vacation. Our morning classes are often comfortably full and frequent changes would make things difficult for the teacher and other children.

PLEASE NOTE THAT ALL CLASSES ARE SUBJECT TO CANCELLATION WITH FULL REIMBURSEMENT IF ENROLLMENT THRESHOLD IS NOT MET.
