Outdoor Classes – La Classe Verte
At LLS, we understand that young children thrive when they can actively engage in hands-on learning, whether it’s stacking, digging, building, measuring, observing objects topple and mastering their reconstruction, or even exploring through their senses of taste, smell, and unbridled physical movement. That’s why we’ve designed a special two-hour “classe verte” program for preschoolers, held twice a week, to provide them with an enriching experience that ignites their curiosity and nurtures their love for the natural world.
Our curriculum has been thoughtfully crafted, with a primary focus on aligning our activities with the interests of our young explorers. This approach is further enriched by the insights and observations gathered by our dedicated teachers during our exploration sessions. Through this dynamic and child-centered approach, our aim is to foster a profound connection to nature and inspire a lifelong passion for learning among our budding naturalists.
Our classe verte is offered every Tuesday and Friday, running from 9:30 to 11:30AM in the beautiful Fort Greene Park. These sessions will be led by two experienced native French teachers, both of whom have previously been a part of the LLS community and are thrilled to embark on this exciting new adventure with your child.
This is an outdoor only program, we will meet even in light rain, snow and colder temperatures through mid December. Proper clothing and gear is required for attendance. In the event of dangerous weather conditions that would be deeply disruptive to the program, we will cancel class and notify you with as much time as possible.
