CNED FRENCH CLASSES

Saturday Adapted CNED Classes:

This innovative adapted CNED support course will be hosted at LLS for fluent french speaking children from Kindergarten to 3rd Grade.

Join us for these French literacy classes designed especially for French-speaking children who are pre readers and beginner readers and writers.

Taught by an experienced Alliance NY instructor and hosted at the Language and Laughter Studio, this small-group class provides weekly, structured support to help children develop the foundational skills they need to become early readers and writers in French.

This program aims to:

Each Saturday, children explore one or two new sounds, letters, or syllabic patterns through a blend of playful practice and explicit instruction. They work on handwriting, sound–letter correspondence, syllable building, and decoding simple words and short sentences.

Activities are adapted to two levels within the group, ensuring that each child progresses at their own pace. Over the weeks, children learn to:

  • Recognize and write new letters and graphèmes
  • Blend syllables and read short word lists of increasing complexity
  • Expand vocabulary and use new high-frequency words to build simple, meaningful sentences
  • Practice early grammar concepts such as singular/plural, masculine/feminine
  • Strengthen fine-motor skills through guided handwriting and copywork
  • Listen for target sounds in spoken words and identify them in written form
  • Read together through small shared stories or short texts and sometimes illustrate what they’ve read
