Benedicte Charpentier

Raised in the midst of nature in Auvergne, France, Benedicte came to New York in 2003 after spending seven years in Japan, teaching French to adults and teens as well as working as a translator. She raised four bilingual children in Brooklyn, three of them are now in college and the youngest is a high school junior. Her experience as a mother of a special needs child and the challenges of being a new yorker inform her approach to community, environmental and educational issues.

An artist at heart, she likes to find beauty in everything, and to share her sense of wonder with the children.

Benedicte has also been a voracious reader since her childhood and this love of stories is something she wants to communicate by animating storytelling, show and tell, and through songs. Her guitar will give rhythm to the Atelier activities every afternoon.
