Les Olympiades at LLS

As we come to the close of the year, the Olympiade offers us a moment to pause and witness what has grown within our community. This event becomes a living reflection of the bonds that formed over months, bonds between children, between teachers and families, and between families themselves.

Throughout the year, we navigated challenges together, adjusting to a world that continues to shift socially, politically, and environmentally. In these changes, we found opportunities to rethink, to listen, to support one another with intention. The Olympiade stands as a celebration of that shared resilience, a reminder that community is something we build moment by moment, decision by decision, through presence and mutual care.

We also cultivated a heightened awareness of the natural world. By slowing down and entering the children’s pace, we learned to notice the miniature details that usually escape grown-up eyes: the texture of soil, the way wind moves through grass. The Olympiade takes place outdoors, grounded, connected, inviting us to remember that we, too, are part of the seasons and cycles that hold the children’s learning.

And this event is not only for the children. It is for families to meet one another, to speak openly about their experiences, to strengthen the web of adult relationships that sustains the community. When parents connect, mother to mother, father to father, parent to parent, a net forms that supports the whole ecosystem of the school. That net becomes steadying, especially when life feels complex or uncertain.

As educators, our commitment is to offer families the presence, resources, and partnership they need. The Olympiade, in its joy and simplicity, reflects that commitment. It allows us to see how far we’ve come together and to acknowledge the shared work that made it possible.

Standing at this moment in the year, we honor both the growth we have witnessed and the relationships that carried us here. And we look ahead with the confidence that comes from knowing we will keep learning, adjusting, and caring as a community that moves forward, together.
